Common Sense [NEW RECIPES] Mod / Addon

Mods 1.26 / Mods 1.21

Nic's Common Sense [NEW RECIPES] Mod is for survival players who’ve always side-eyed certain items and thought, “Why can’t I just craft this if I’m willing to grind for it?” Instead of adding a bunch of random new gear, this addon focuses on recipes—specifically logical, balanced recipes for stuff that normally stays locked behind luck, rare structures, or specific fights. The headline examples are big: totems, tridents, sponges, chainmail armor, bedrock, and more. That’s the kind of list that can seriously change how a long-term survival world progresses, because it shifts those items from “maybe someday if RNG likes me” into “I can earn this with effort.”

Everything runs through the Common Sense Table. It’s a simple crafting station that acts like a regular crafting table, but it’s dedicated to these new recipes for previously uncraftable items and blocks. No extra gimmicks, no weird side systems—just a clean place where the addon’s recipes live. That separation is actually nice, because it keeps your normal crafting table from feeling cluttered and makes it obvious when you’re doing “common sense crafting” versus standard vanilla crafting.

In-game, this mod is all about smoothing out the grind without making survival feel pointless. If the recipes are truly balanced like the description claims, you still have to work for these items—you just aren’t forced into the same repetitive loops of hunting one specific structure or relying on rare drops forever. It also makes certain builds and projects feel more achievable. Like, being able to craft things that were previously “special” can turn into new goals: set up farms, gather materials, and work toward crafting that one item you usually only see once in a blue moon.

The only real caution is pacing. When you make rare gear craftable, it can accelerate a world fast if you rush it, so it’s worth treating the Common Sense Table like an endgame station you earn access to rather than something you spam on day one. A good way to keep it fun is to set personal rules—use it when you’ve hit that point where exploration RNG is annoying instead of exciting, or when your world is established and you want more long-term crafting goals.

Nic's Common Sense [NEW RECIPES] Mod is basically “survival, but with fewer arbitrary walls”: a dedicated Common Sense Table and a set of logical recipes that let you craft items like totems, tridents, sponges, chainmail armor, bedrock, and more in Minecraft Bedrock.
