Item Cooldown Mod is basically a control panel for pacing. If you’ve ever played on a world where combat turns into pure spam-click chaos, or you’ve had one item ruin the balance of a map, this addon gives you a clean way to clamp it down. The whole point is custom cooldowns on any item in Minecraft Bedrock, and it’s not limited to vanilla—every item can have its own settings, even modded ones.
The system splits cooldowns into two big types: attack cooldowns and use cooldowns. Attack cooldowns let you force a wait between hits with specific items, which is huge for PvP or any combat-focused map where you want fights to be about timing instead of who can mash faster. Use cooldowns cover the other side of gameplay—delays for eating, placing blocks, or using items—so you can stop things like instant spam-heals, rapid utility cycling, or whatever else is breaking your intended flow. It’s flexible enough to tweak just one problem item or to build an entire “ruleset” feel for a server.
Actually using it is command-driven and straightforward. /itemcooldown help shows command info, and /itemcooldown reset clears all cooldowns if you want to wipe your settings and start fresh. The main controls are /itemcooldown attackCooldown [duration] to set an attack delay in seconds, and /itemcooldown useCooldown [duration] to set a use delay in seconds. That makes it really easy to test changes live—adjust, jump into a duel or a challenge room, and see if it feels fair.
The spicy part is the edge cases: setting an item’s cooldown to 0 removes cooldown entirely for that item, while -1 completely disables it and makes it unusable. That’s perfect for custom maps where you want to hard-ban specific items without relying on player honor, or for servers trying to prevent one broken item from dominating fights. The best tip is to change things gradually—if you crank every cooldown too high at once, the game can feel sluggish. Start with the one or two items causing problems, then expand your tuning once you like the pacing. Item Cooldown Mod is a clean tool for PvP servers, custom maps, and anyone who wants Minecraft Bedrock gameplay to feel controlled instead of spammy.
