BONY162's Backpacks Mod is designed for survival players who want a backpack that feels like real equipment you manage, not just a storage block you babysit. The wearing system is straightforward: put the backpack item in your off-hand slot and you’re “wearing” it. What’s cool is the quick swap behavior—if a backpack is placed on the ground, you can hit it and it will auto-equip to your off-hand. If you’re already wearing one, the old one drops as an item, so you can swap packs fast when you’re switching from a mining run loadout to a building run loadout without spending forever dragging items around.
Upgrades are handled through a menu, and you’ve got two access methods so it fits different play moments. Method 1 is base-style: place the backpack down, then sneak and interact with it to open the upgrade menu. Method 2 is travel-style: hold the backpack in your hand and interact with the item to open the same menu. That means you can adjust your backpack while you’re out exploring or set up your upgrades at home before a long trip.
The upgrades themselves are all about making survival smoother. Extra Storage adds extra pages to the backpack, giving you more room for long adventures. When the backpack is placed, you’ll see arrows inside it, and you click those to flip between inventory pages, which makes it easier to keep things organized instead of dumping everything into one messy pile. The Magnet upgrade is a quality-of-life win for resource runs: once you purchase it from the upgrade menu, it automatically pulls nearby dropped items to you, and you can toggle it on or off from the same menu depending on whether you want to vacuum loot or keep your pickup under control.
Security Lock is the multiplayer safety upgrade. Buying it from the upgrade menu sets you as the owner and locks the backpack so only you can open it or pick it up. You can toggle it between LOCKED and UNLOCKED, but the warning is real—unlocking it means anyone can get inside, so it’s basically a trust switch for shared worlds. Auto-Sort is for when your backpack pages get out of control after a big haul. It adds a button in the upgrade menu that lets you instantly sort the items on the current page and stack everything neatly, with options to sort by Name or by Amount. The catch is it only works on a backpack that’s been placed in the world, so if you want the cleanest results, drop the backpack at your base, sort it there, then head back out.
