They pushed the midtones and highlights with a custom tone-mapping curve so everything looks slightly faded but still richly saturated. Grass, wood, and stone all take on this warm, sun-washed mood that honestly pairs perfectly with rustic or medieval-themed texture packs. Even the water gets a subtle but necessary upgrade. You get actual animated waves and caustics that add life to oceans and rivers, but the effects are kept soft and filtered so they don't overpower the chill retro aesthetic.

Since it is built directly on Mojang's native Vibrant Visuals render pipeline, it is ridiculously lightweight. You get this beautiful, cinematic overhaul without tanking your frame rate when you are deep in a massive multiplayer server or fighting off a raid.
