Door Air Pockets Mod takes one of the cheapest items in the game and quietly makes it a legit lifesaver. Instead of panicking for air every time you dip under the surface, you just drop a door on the ocean floor or in a tunnel wall and it instantly carves out a clean air pocket inside its hitbox. No commands, no setup, no gimmicks — place the door, step inside, and your breath bar refills while the water stays out. It feels like an old-school door trick, but baked in properly so it works every time.
This is huge for early-game players who haven’t touched potions or turtles yet. If you’re strip-mining into an ocean, digging out gravel patches, or punching your way into a buried ruin, you can just keep a stack of doors on your hotbar and drop them as “checkpoints” whenever your lungs start screaming. You pop into the air pocket, chill for a second, plan your next move, then swim out again. For ocean monument raids, shipwreck hunting, and underwater cave runs, it turns cheap wood doors into a scuffed but super practical diving system.
The addon works with all vanilla doors right out of the box — oak, acacia, iron, you name it. Place it underwater, and the water inside the door’s space disappears into air automatically. If you’re running other addons with custom doors, there’s a simple rule: as long as the item ID ends with _door, they can join the party and also generate air pockets when placed. That means you can build full underwater bases with themed doors and still have clean breathing spots at every entrance. It’s a tiny change on paper, but once you get used to carrying doors for ocean trips, going back to raw vanilla drowning feels like a bad idea.
