Legacy Plus Revival Addon returns cut mobs, biomes, worlds, items, blocks and many interesting things from old versions of Minecraft. Remember the almost impossibly green grass from early Minecraft? Legacy Plus Revival brings that look back and surrounds it with plenty of other things to discover. You can explore forests inspired by the game’s early days, come across old-fashioned structures, meet different takes on familiar mobs and make equipment from materials such as ruby. Some of these features are recreations rather than exact copies, but they capture the charm of a Minecraft world that feels a little different from the one you’re used to.
The landscapes are a good place to start. The Alpha Forest stands out with its bright green grass and leaves, along with old-style roses and dandelions. Infdev Forest has a similar feel, although its trees are more spread out and patches of sand are common. You may also come across old houses while exploring. For something less familiar, there’s a Mushroom Forest filled with giant mushrooms, animals and mooshrooms, with Pigman villages to look out for. Classic Plains offers a more open stretch of land if you’d rather find somewhere to build. Then there’s Indev Hell: a harsh landscape of dirt, sparse trees and vast lava lakes, where monsters can appear. It’s probably not the first place you’d choose for a peaceful starter home.
Exploration can lead you to structures inspired by old tutorial worlds, including small houses and even large ships. There are also Indev houses, including a mossy cobblestone design with chests inside. Coming across one of these buildings makes a journey feel a little more rewarding, especially if you enjoy stopping to look around rather than heading straight for the next destination. The addon also includes different takes on mobs such as wolves and endermen, so it’s worth paying attention to the creatures you meet along the way. You might recognize them immediately, or you might need a second look.
Back at your base, the new materials give you more to do with what you’ve collected. Ruby can be used for tools, armor and blocks, giving you another resource to search for while exploring. There’s also an Indev-style bow that fires faster the longer you use it, as well as reinforced armor made by combining regular armor with chainmail. If building and decorating are more your thing, try the old-looking wooden blocks, doors and trapdoors. You can also work with cloth and a selection of extra dyes, which can be used on cloth or alpha sheep. A bright woolly flock beside a simple wooden house would fit right into an old-style world.
There are three behavior packs to choose from, depending on how much of your world you want to change. AB Legacy adds the old-style biomes alongside the usual ones, though they can be rare. AB Revival replaces the usual biomes with the addon’s older-inspired landscapes, while AB Hell creates a much harsher world with vast lava oceans. Activate only one of these behavior packs at a time, together with the resource pack. Choose the first if you want to stumble across a bit of nostalgia during a regular adventure, or one of the others if you’re ready to start somewhere that feels different from the beginning.
